Matt Carpenter is seeing game action at third base this Spring and all signs point to the Cardinals using their three-hole hitter at both first and third base this season. Teams around the league are finally starting to learn the lesson of the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks: If you're lucky enough to have a great quarterback on a rookie contract, it's time to go all in The road to the playoffs appeared to be smooth sailing for the Blues through the Month of December. That is no longer the reality as the Blues find themselves on the outside looking in trying to secure a Wild Card spot.

After going 3-for-30 (.100) this spring, Carson Kelly was optioned to Memphis over the weekend. Catch the Cubs. That's all you hear about when talking about the NL Central. Rightfully so, the Cubs have positioned themselves to have sustained success after a years of being bottom feeders. This offseason was a big one for the Cardinals in order to retake the NL Central. It was a quick postseason run for the Missouri Tigers as they were blown out in Nashville on Friday. Missouri lost both games Porter Jr. played after returning from back surgery. Matt Carpenter saw his first game action of spring training; drawing two walks and scoring two runs as the DH in the Cardinals 11-4 win over the Mets. Carpenter has yet to take the infield this spring and said he is still willing to play multiple position other than first base. March Madness started last night with play-in games but gets in full swing on Thursday. The Big Dance is almost here. The NFL offseason is off to a hot start and free agency doesn't even start till 3:00 local time. There has been a lot of turnover of some recognizable names going to different teams. Luke Gregerson (oblique) has been on the shelf for most of the spring and Dominic Leone seems to have emerged as the top candidate to open the season as the Cardinals' closer in the event Gregerson remains unavailable.

The Blues ended their three game California road with consecutive wins finishing the trip with a 2 and 1 record. The Blues have won back to back games for first the first time since February 8th and 9th. They now have 79 points, sitting just 1 point shy of Colorado, 80 points, for the 2nd Wild Card spot The Cardinals are supposed to be an offensive juggernaut after the addition of Marcel Ozuna into the cleanup spot. So far the Spring training results have been less than stellar. The good news is thought, it's only Spring Training. The Kirk Cousins sweepstakes is underway and the Vikings are "in the driver's seat" early. Even though Cousins cannot technically sign with anyone until Wednesday, March 14 at 4 p.m. ET when the new league year starts, the legal tampering period is underway and Cousins is narrowing down his teams. For the first time in five years Mizzou basketball will play in the NCAA tournament. The Tigers heard their name called as a No. 8 seed in the West Region and will play ninth-seeded Florida State on Friday in Nashville, Tenn. They will have to do it without Senior forward Jordan Barnett who was suspended following his early Saturday morning DWI arrest. To the irking of some fans, the Cardinals over value their prospects more than other franchises. Often accused of being cheap when it comes to trades and the free agent market, The Cardinals have their way of doing business and don't often wander from that plan. It was yet another disappointing effort from the Blues, losing 2-0 to the San Jose Sharks and falling 4 points out of a wild card spot with three teams ahead of them. Mizzou falters in their SEC Opener The Cardinals are often ridiculed from their fan base on being too passive when it comes to spending money. With the Cardinals having a reduced payroll once again heading into this season, the team is relying on its young cost-controlled players to have major impacts. Write That Down Dan
