Byte Me

There is a new game in the SteamWorld Universe, the Switch is selling just fine (thank you very much), Anthem has a confusing demo coming out, Far Cry: New Dawn is adding some RPG elements and the Epic Store has some interesting ideas of how to get customers. Plus great (long!) questions and some cheap/free games!

Past Episodes

Sadly we were without Adam again this week (but he should be back next week, just in time for Cliff to leave.) On the plus side, Cliff played enough games last week to make up for Dylan and Adam. There was a TON of news to talk about this week. Just before we started recording, Activision-Blizzard announced they were laying off roughly 8% of their workforce, or 775 employees. Apex Legends his the 25 million player mark and announces both the start of their first season and a Valentine's Day based event, Fortnite will let you merge accounts now (, the CEO of Hi-Rez calls out Sony and tells them to stop playing favorites and give everyone (including Paladins) cross play, Crackdown 3 won't let you play with your friends in the competitive multiplayer at launch, some former Telltale alums are creating a new studio with some cool sounding ideas, Playstation has a new boss, AC: Odyssey is getting a new game plus, Beat Saber players are a lot faster than Valve was giving them credit for and Capcom dumped a ton of music on Spotify ( We answered some great questions from Vinny, JoeColeslaw and Eddie and don't forget to grab Thimbleweed Park when it goes free on the Epic Store later this month!

Dylan and Cliff did their first remote podcast, recorded from the comfort of their respective houses! This week, we talked about Apex Legends, the new game from Respawn Entertainment, the developers of Titanfall. The good news is it's apparently a very solid squad based battle royale game set in the Titanfall universe. The bad news is that nobody is working on Titanfall 3. We also talked about how Anthem won't have guilds at launch, how 10 million people watched an EDM concert in Fortnite and how the movie Groundhog Day is getting a VR based sequel 26 years later. We went over this month's Playstation Plus games, some free games from Twitch Prime, the February additions to Game Pass and the March entry for the Humble Bundle. You'll probably not be shocked to find out that Gamers are back in Troll Corner, this time for review bombing the Metro games. Maybe y'all actually don't like games?

Full disclosure, this is actually episode 5, but we screwed up the numbering. So just pretend that episode 5 is some sort of missing episode, lost to the sands of time! Hans, Cliff and Dylan get nostalgic for Disney in this months episode! But first, we talked about all the new Arcade1Up cabinets debuting at CES and the new Munsters pinball. We then took a deep dive, starting with Tron in the arcades, through early 80's when a bunch of future Sierra folks got started making games for the mouse, into the NES and edutainment eras and then into the 90's with the SNES and Genesis. We even got a little bit modern, talking Kingdom Hearts and Epic Mickey.

Adam is sick today, so it was just Cliff and Dylan holding down the fort for Episode 114. Cliff was also sick, but not as sick as Adam, so please excuse any sniffling and coughing. :) In our now playing section, Dylan told us all about a new board game he's been playing called Gloomhaven ( Cliff is still busing playing Hellblade for Byte Me DLC Plays (, he finally got to play Rocket League via crossplay with everyone and got to try out the Anthem VIP Beta. In news, we found the best way to catch up with Kingdom Hearts (, there are now over 500 games in the Xbox Backwards Compatibility program, GameStop appears to have screwed up the Kingdom Hearts PS4 pre-orders, Metroid Prime 4 probably isn't going to come out for a while (and Cliff has a lot to say about EA and Nintendo), you could win $250k as a virtual farmer and AC: Odyssey is going to fix their broken DLC. Vinny had a great question about what the future holds for the Epic store and how Valve needs to change to compete and Joe wants to know what the next round of games that get crossplay should be (but wasn't willing to accept "all of them" as an answer!) We rounded up Games with Gold for February, talked about the new PS4 Humble Bundle, what games you can get free from Epic next month and accidentally skipped that Pikuniku is free on Twitch Prime (whoops!) We don't do Small Bites that often, but this week wanted to shout out sloth<3chunk and stony419 from Clan Goonies 2 who dropped into Discord repping the mobile game Smashing Four. Dylan and Cliff will give their impressions next week.
