540 - "Most terrorists are terrifyingly normal" and 15+ Other Surprising Secret Facts From Inside The Mind of Former Intelligence Officer Tom Quiggin

Tom Quiggin is a former military intelligence officer. And Canadian. And host of the Quiggen Report Podcast about "counter-terrorism in the age of identity politics." (i.e. how can you talk about a threat if you'll be call politically incorrect or worse racist if the threat itself happens to pertain to a certain culture?) I don't know the answer. And usually, I don't care. But I've had a lot of people come on the podcast recently and talk to me about the threat against free speech and comprise. You can take my privacy. I already know Alexa is listening. But free speech is another story. Because, if you look at history, speech is the first thing to disappear when countries collapse. Let's take a look. PLUS you'll also hear what counter-terrorism really looks like (interrogation tactics, interviews, the psychological states of a terrorist's mind and more.) I write about all my podcasts! Big Shot Bob Pod with Robert Horry
00:59:30 1/11/2023

Past Episodes

Robert Horry dives right into the Kevin Durant move to Phoenix, and how he's excited to see how that core comes together when KD is back. We also talk about the Lakers moves at the trade deadline and Robert talks about why he loves the moves the team made. It's NBA All-Star weekend as well, and Rob reflects on his trips to the game he's taken in the past and how much more fun it was after he retired from the league. We all discuss the fallout from Super Bowl 57, give out an inspiring Big Shot of the Week and play one last epic round of Walmart or Waffle House!
00:58:54 2/17/2023
Robert opens the show by talking about the scene last night in Los Angeles, and with the Lakers broadcast crew as LeBron James broke the all-time scoring record. We also discuss the odd scene surrounding Anthony Davis, who seemed uninterested in LeBron breaking the scoring record, and LeBron's mental state after Kyrie was traded to the Mavericks instead of the Lakers. On Kyrie, Rob also breaks down how Kyrie and Luca can coexist in Dallas, and Rob says they are going to have a hard time because they both need the ball to dominate. We also jump into the wild incident between Dillon Brooks and Donovan Mitchell and the hilarious audio that followed. Plus we touch on the White Men Can't Jump reboot, the 22-year-old coach who posed as a 13-year-old player in a JV high school basketball game, Super Bowl picks and an inspiring Big Shot of the Week. And we round out the show with another great round of Rapid Fire!
01:05:33 2/8/2023
We open the show with some news this week that will affect our future going forward. We also jump into LeBron's emotions after the no-call at the end of the Celtics game and roll right into Chris Palmer's reaction to the no-call. Chris also talks about his new Fresh Prince book, who he has winning the Finals this year, his thoughts on the strong East and reacts to the comments about LeBron not being a Top 5 player. We also get Rob's first-hand explanation about what happened when he was kicked out of his teenage son's basketball game, and we close with an awesome Big Shot of the Week from Damar Hamlin.
00:48:58 2/2/2023
Robert Horry puts the wraps on Year Two of the Big Shot Bob podcast, and as we enter Year Three we discuss what guests and live events we want to pull off in the coming year. We also jump into the Shannon Sharpe drama from this past weekend, and Rob says it doesn't bother him that much, while Jenners has a much different opinion of what this does to fans going forward. Plus Robert Horry says that Patrick Beverley's verbal squabble with the Lakers team reporter was something he'd never do, because these guys cover you for 82 games a year and can create any narrative they want. Plus Pat Riley weighs in on Kareem's greatness, the awkward audio of the week from Tom Brady, and our Super Bowl predictions. An inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and after Dame called Pat Bev "Flip from Above the Rim" we play a round of Hoops Movie Trivia.
01:06:54 1/25/2023
We dive into this week's show with the story about how Robert Horry filmed some scenes for The Lincoln Lawyer, and is back from a very cool trip to Egypt with the NBA. And as the NBA trade deadline approaches, Robert says there is no way that the Lakers move either Patrick Beverley or Russell Westbrook, even with all the rumors going around, because neither of them is performing at a high level at the moment. We also debate whether Kareem will be in the building when LeBron breaks his scoring record, Trae Young's behavior in the Atlanta Hawks front office mess, and Rob's reaction to the Luca Doncic mural in Dallas that Mark Cuban found "disrespectful". Also, how many drug tests is too many? - because Ja Morant's on his seventh of the season. And we all appreciate Trevor Lawrence's love for Waffle House. A very cool Big Shot of the Week gets an assist from the Buffalo Bills, and after Rob's trip to Egypt we play a round of "Where in the World is Robert Horry?"
01:00:15 1/19/2023
As we open the show this week, Rob is headed to Egypt for an NBA Africa event, plus we get an incredible breaking update on Damar Hamlin's recovery! Rob also believes there is no truth to the rumor that LeBron would ask for a trade from the Lakers this offseason, largely because his family is rooted in LA and he's never asked for a trade before. We also speculate on how the fans feel about Kyrie Irving, as he is leading the All-Star voting among guards, the improvement in Jayson Tatum's game, and how the East has been taking over as the powerhouse in the NBA. Also we dive into the slide Phoenix has been on lately, and just how dominant Nikola Jokic has been this season, even more so than his previous MVP seasons. We wrap up with a classic Big Shot of the Week, and existential questions from the Internet, including movies you loved as a kid but hate as an adult, your sports bucket list and teams you love to root against.
00:59:30 1/11/2023
We are back from the holiday break, and Robert Horry and the crew catch up on holiday traditions and what videogames have been keeping us away from our families. Of course we talk about the unfortunate incident surrounding Damar Hamlin, and Rob always thinks of the parents in situations like this because he himself has lost a child. We also play some of the uncomfortable confrontation between Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe following the fallout of Skip's untimely tweet. Plus in the wild NBA, we dial in on some of the explosive offensive performances of the last week, and Rob says it has to do with the better players in the league using the rules to their advantage - where in his day players were called for travels and carries way more than today. And an unselfish teammate makes for the best teammate, as Rob has seen that from Kevin Durant these last few weeks as Brooklyn finally hits their stride. Lastly, B-Dog has an issue with Michigan in the college football playoff, and we all try to figure out if TCU will actually have anything against Georgia in the National Championship Game. Stefon Diggs gets a huge Big Shot of the Week, and we round out the week with Walmart or Waffle House.
01:05:27 1/4/2023
Bill Walton joins the crew for show #100, and the man comes in hot! Bill has a lot of praise for Robert Horry's career, and laments that Rob has not yet been inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame. Plus Bill compares players in today's NBA to the style of game that Rob played in his day, shares his own wild Danny Ainge story about almost fighting him at Celtics practice, and jokes about how long his Hall of Fame speech went when he was enshrined. We also touch on Dame Lilliard breaking the Blazers scoring record, the SOFT comments that caused Draymond Green to have a fan thrown out of a game, and a hilarious holiday edition of Black Crime or White Crime!
01:05:24 12/21/2022
Rob and the crew jump into the wild Lakers-Celtics game and how wild endings to games like this teach these teams about what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong when it counts the most. And of course we all have something to say about Draymond Green, as he had a fan ejected from the game against the Bucks, and Rob says Draymond needs to toughen up when it comes to fans, because he remembers having his life threatened many times over in his playing days and always just focused on winning the game. Rob is also a bit unsure about the naming of the new NBA trophies and wonders how long the names will stay before they are renamed again, but also feels there should be an award named for David Stern. Plus Rob tells NBA players that took offense to Zion's 360 dunk at the end of regulation to "get over it" because they all pull antics on the court and you can't pick and choose what to be upset about. Also a really cool Big Shot of the Week, and in honor of Bob Barker's 99th birthday we play a round of NBA Price is Right!
00:51:26 12/14/2022
Rob and the crew open the show with the breaking news that Britney Griner has been released and we bet on who will get the first big interview. We also acknowledge the passing of our company's founder Norm Pattiz, and Rob remembers him fondly as an avid Lakers fan on the sidelines. Of course we dive into the Trae Young drama in Atlanta, and Rob says guys like Trae should not have the right to make their own rules until they establish themselves in the league as winners. Plus Rob disagrees with Draymond Green's Top 5 all timers because he left Kareem Abdul-Jabbar off the list, and spirals down the rabbit hole of NBA greats. And the Deion Sanders news leads to some fun debate on whether he should have left Jackson State, which we all expected he would in time, versus the idea of what he was creating for HBCU's across the country and wondering who will carry that torch now. We also dive into the College football playoff and why Rob thinks his alma mater Alabama is just going to fold against Kansas State in the Sugar Bowl, how the Lakers have found a formula for success, and a really cool Big Shot of the Week that Rob thinks we should ALL start doing!
